Solomon of Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C., provides an overview of workers’ compensation subrogation in Texas, including the legal, statutory, and investigative principles that support successful recovery efforts. Attendees will learn how insurance carriers recover benefits paid to injured employees when a third party is responsible, and explore the three types of subrogation: contractual, equitable, and statutory. The session highlights the importance of early claim identification, prompt investigation, and cost-effective recovery strategies, while introducing the “Three Ls” of subrogation investigations—Liability, Law, and Labor—to help maximize recovery opportunities and protect subrogation interests.
